Swagger without the Sweat
A March 31 New York Times article called it “swagger without the sweat.”
I’d put it more bluntly:
We’ve created a culture where people can BS their way into coveted jobs without doing the work required to earn them.
You don’t have to look far—whether in government or the workplace—to see it.
Confidence without competence.
It reminds me of that old Wendy’s commercial: “Where’s the beef?” Because that’s exactly what it feels like.
All swagger. No substance.
Confidence isn’t the absence of doubt. It’s the decision to act anyway—even in the discomfort.
