Are you as confident as you should be? Conquering the confidence crisis in the workplace.

Cue Elgar’s Pomp & Circumstance March No. 1. It’s graduation season! Thousands of commencement speeches are being delivered all over the world, opining on the past accomplishments, future aspirations and goals of college, high school, elementary, and even kindergarten graduates.

Unfortunately, I can’t boast that I helped Ken Burns and Roger Federer deliver their brilliant graduation addresses. However, I did work on a few speeches with my clients, and let me tell you, it ain’t easy. The platitudes and cliches that those of us north of 40 were willing to listen to when we wore our caps and gowns will not cut it with these sophisticated and often skeptical audiences. So we set to work on what would resonate with these savvy crowds, and I was delighted to find self-confidence as a recurring theme.

Yes, I know what you’re thinking. Is Confidence really an issue? If anything, isn’t there too much of it these days, especially in our public figures?

Yet, in the workplace, I’m seeing a significant lack of confidence among many employees, men and women. Why? Perhaps it’s global unrest, or our divisive political climate which has many of us questioning aspects of our hopes and dreams. Maybe it’s the new, often isolating work-from-home reality for many professionals, offering few opportunities for creative collaboration, spontaneous networking or water-cooler chat with colleagues.

Increasing the focus on self-confidence in my coaching and training has been so helpful for clients. Expanding this work further, I’m launching  UNSTOPPABLE CONFIDENCE, a program for women in the workforce. Don’t worry guys, I’ll get to you soon. For now, my focus is on women.

As part of my research, I’ve created a survey focusing on currently employed women ages 30-55. By taking my short survey below you’ll help me help women around the world activate and enhance their confidence.

Thank you so much for your participation in this survey. Your feedback is invaluable in helping me bring critical insights and tools to UNSTOPPABLE CONFIDENCE—my new program for women in the workplace ages 30-55. It should take you only 20 minutes to complete the survey. When you are finished, please return it by July 17th.

Acclaimed writer and comedian, and my dear friend and colleague, Claire Berger, released her new book last month “How Much Is Enough? Getting More By Living With Less.”  In it, she invites readers to join her in the search of “enough” in all aspects of our lives. Health, money, family, success, food, and sex are just a smattering of the topics up for discussion in a touching, highly relatable, often hilarious conversation that features thought-provoking questions and creative prompts for deeper personal reflection. If you want to get to the place where you can say “I am enough, I do enough, I have enough” you’ve just got to read this book.
